Since couple of week I’m undergoing a brain storming session for a new, i would rather say reviving logo for an organization which will also be used for website. During these days, i spent a lot of time looking on the designs and logos that are present on the web. At some point i felt that whatever we think or we conceptualize, is already into the existence, by some way or the other. Hence i decided to sit calm and stare at the organization’s name with a pencil and few sheets of paper.
Further, i started to draw everything that struck my mind while i was staring at the name and i ended up with some five to six different variants. The one important thing is that i was instructed that the logo should not go far beyond what is now existing; for me, that was only one hindrance of this session of logo designing.
The next leap, after scribbling on notepad, started to design on adobe flash (due to its vector ability and my dis-ability in adobe illustrator 🙁 ). This again was another mind blocking period because when the sketch design that was towards the process of digital transfer, new things struck and new designs came into existence.
Finally, I settled down with new 8 designs and fortunately the organization liked them all and had some difficulty in choosing the ‘one’. But they settled down with the one nice pretty logo which i hope will carry on them for next few years.
The lesson I learnt from this session is that logo design depends 50% on broad intuition that has global preference instead of personal and 50% on your previous works (P.S as of my opinion 😉 ) at the moment of designing a logo and not by something I plan, sketch and digitize the same.
Thank you for reading and I’m open to your critics, positively…
