This post has the most simple and quick video presentation of how a wireless application protocol or WAP works. In simple words, it shows how the mobile phones communicated with the server when internet is accessed. Though the video dates back to 1999 – 2000, the present day mobile networks works the same way except the speed and the media transmitted between mobile phones and servers and vice versa.

Protocols are set of rules to be followed while communicating/ interacting with two or more devices which can either be a Client & Server, Client & Client devices or Server & Servers. There are many protocols in the field of computer networking; few of them are TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol), used to connect internet, HTTP (HyperText Transfer Protocol) is the rule set for pages and content of millions of people fetch through internet, FTP (File Transfer Protocol) as the name suggests its used for transferring different types of files to and from servers & clients, etc.

I hope this will be useful to you in understanding the basic operation of mobile internet facility. Here you go…
